by Don Gunter
The Jasper Community Theatre brings us their long awaited production of “The Honky Tonk Angels.” This show was originally scheduled for August but was postponed due to remodeling details at the theatre.
Dana Riggins who played Patsy Cline in last year's "Always...Patsy Cline" will play the role of Angela. Angela is a Texas housewife in her mid-thirties. She has a great sense of humor and a fiercely independent streak.
Patricia Rice, who is a newcomer to JCT but is well known from performances in Woodville, TX, will play Darlene. Darlene is a young woman from the Deep South in her late teens to early twenties. She is pretty, sweet and simple. She is a young woman who grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia and the Mississippi Delta.
Jessica Martindale who wowed us in "Mad Cap and Music" earlier this year will play the role of Sue Ellen. Sue Ellen is a Los Angeles career woman in her thirties. She is a "citified" country girl. She is smart, very attractive, sexy and frustrated.
This musical comedy was written by Ted Swindley who also authored “Always… Patsy Cline.” The three would be country singers meet on a bus on their way to Nashville. They become friends and decide to form a singing group and then perform in Nashville. The production features a live band and dozens of familiar and popular country songs.
Shows are scheduled for September 25, 26 and 27th and October 2, 3 and 4. All shows are at 7:00 pm.
